I live in Edmonton with my wife and two dogs. I have a BSc in Biology and Chemistry from the
University of Alberta. I got started in web design during a particularly bad bout of insomnia
around midterms. I was tired of studying, but not sleepy tired, and somehow stumbled upon an
HTML tutorial. Using what I learned from that I built myself a
blog. Thus I came into the realm of web design.
Everything I know is almost completely self taught, and I'm always learning.
I fancy myself a decision maker, and pride myself on designing great layouts with simple but
elegant navigation.
I, too, live in Edmonton. I have a BSc. in Computing Science and
have started on yet another degree.
Although I had dabbled with HTML a tiny bit beforehand, my real
start with web design came in the summer of 2003, when some friends
suggested that we needed a website through which to communicate.
So, I used some university-provided webspace and created a message
board.
The original, though functional, was rather crude. In the years
that have passed since its inception, I have updated the code,
switched it over to a database-based structure, and moved the site
to its own domain,
www.damnyouparas.com.
Since that began, and since the start of work on
www.whatiftv.com, my knowledge
of web technologies has soared, and, in concert with my logical
problem-solving mind, that knowledge allows me to envision and
create a vast array of web design solutions. And yet, my thirst
for more keeps me searching for better ways of doing things -- if not
for making better websites for our clients, then for constantly
improving my pet project,
www.damnyouparas.com.
